We recently learned of an announcement by Washington state schools to teach gender fluidity and identity at the elementary school level (beginning with kindergarten). As parents we have concerns about this addition to the curriculum. If you are planning to implement it this coming school year, we would like to know the best way to express our concerns and ask questions. Further, will there be an "opt out" provision for the curriculum as there is for sex education? Thank you.
Yesterday my fifth grader learned about condoms and abstinence in his sexual education class. He still half believes in Santa Claus. Is this really part of the curriculum? My understanding was that the class would be an introduction to sexuality, not a "how to" class. I never even saw a notice that this class was taking place all week long. Where can I find the exact curriculum as to be what is being taught.
